a sunday in Feburary~

sometimes i can't believe wad an amazingly awesome vocation im in.... theres so many up & coming events involving our unit and the RSAF itself. its like havin a house on the beach, or workin in a chocolate factory :)

i had fun the other day at the AMS cohesion, not to mention the ultimate LEFT 4 DEAD session Shawn, Me & Tommy had after that.... although i must say, the weather these days are insanely calescent, almost cancerous, if u will....

my mother n sister left for Thailand two days ago...
i've never felt more at ease~
every morning i wake up feeling so liberated from them, it feels great~ having the freedom to do as i please n provide for my own needs, its rather up lifting, i do so thoroughly enjoy it :) not that i dont miss them cause i do...
but until they come back, im gonna enjoy every moment of their absence while i still can~

i've caught a number of movies in the past few weeks... just yesterday i saw "He's just not that into you" with Cassy. And last week, "Slumdog Millionaire" with Rick. Both of which were remarkable. so, i decided to list my very own personal top 10 movies, just for fun...

in other affairs, a recent indepth conversation with the best friend at her place whilst lazing on her bed, stroking her lavished Persian Cat, gave me a sort of morbid hope that things would get better, that everything would eventually work itself out n the bigger picture would soon reveal its intentions to us...

i've never been one to believe in hope... but i believe in dreams and in some paradox, their both one in the same~

so i end of this post giving cheers to the everlasting friendships i've made and/or rekindled in these past few months... may they last till the age of my children & theirs to come...

yesterday was, i think, the 5th anniversary of the Airfield Maintenance Squadron. They held this cohesion day thing at Marina Square. everyone from all the various units came down, the head hunchos of all the 4 bases gave some speeches then we all went to play bowling and free video games at the arcade & bowling alley outside the cinema for like 2 hrs before headin to the buffet line..

having the entire arcade's games available to u for free is like, i would think, every 5 yr old kid's dream... u can just, start a game, fool around with it for a bit then just move over to the other one n not even give a shit if ur loosing or wadever... n u can never loose, just keep pressin the start button whenever the countdown timer to continue flashes on the screen... i don't even know how to explain the coolness of this situation~

this was probably the 6th or so event we've been to since we got posted to the Air Force... its a pretty good life over here, tats for sure~ the Major made it a point to have at least one get-together of all the squads every 2 mths.... talk about welfare ey? :)

after a prize givin ceremony and a couple more speeches, we watched Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and ate popcorn (both of which fully paid for of course) before callin it a day.

a couple of us cabbed over to Tommy's place to play some Mahjong and, if there was time to spare, perhaps a little Left4dead.... after all, the following day was a friday and it wasn't an Off day which, i thought kinda reframed us from havin too much fun...

it never ceases to amaze me how much i always seem to learn more bout the chinese culture... i've rarely hang out with cheena ppl, i hate it when they'd speak amongst themselves n i'd feel a lil lost, but they're cool ppl & i think i've picked up alot of the language along the way~

i had a great time, it was simple yet fun... i really enjoyed myself~
its simple things like havin a picnic at the beach or chillin at a friend's place tat conversations can be really engaging...

this morning was just dreadful to wake up to... but alas, today was RSAF Safety day, so there wasnt much to be done, which ment more time for hunting n gathering or shootin each other up in "Medal of Honor" on our PSPs...

we decided to use the free time to set up the fish tank we've been meaning to have in our room. the previous frog drowning/toad baseball matches have made certain discoveries... like how certain tree toads can bloat up to the size of a ping pong ball and become bouncy when threatened, and that there were a bunch of tiny baby guppies in the koi pond right outside just waiting to be caught.

Rajan & Winson lead the fishing expedition. Armed with net n' pail, they headed out n caught about 50 of the lil gups... we washed some rocks and harvested some of the pond's aquatic plants and viola, a habitat fit for Nemo himself~

it looked really great~
everyone was in awe of it :)

i dunno how we can still keep ourselves entertained like this everyday with our AVS escapades n not get in trouble...

we got released early today. got home at about 5-ish in the afternoon... pretty much just chilled at home watchin videos on youtube n stuff...

starship trooper~

shawn and i found a frog today and sweeped it across the drain down into the canyons where it probably drowned or something in the milky waters of the canals right outside the base...

later in the day we murdered a snail with a rock and sacrificed 2 millipedes to the rain god... & it worked too, for a brief moment tat is, but onli a slight drizzle so training didn't cease.

a few of us explored the nearby area and found acouple of metal rods and a rusty hammer and started going round poking n prodding the bushes for snakes n insects alike... each time we found a cricket or an ants nest, we'd all start pounding & pelting it with sticks n rocks, taking our bottles n pouring water all over them... if all else failed, i'd come in with my "Hammer of Doom" n deal the killin blow~

that wasnt it, by the end of the day we caught n captured 4 big (not to mention hairy) ass spiders and contained them in a broken bottle we found at the scene then fed them to the fishes in the pond. None of the fishes actually ate them so we just drowned them instead..

it was cruel wad we did but damn i had so much fun... i would categorize this as "stupid stuff boys would do when bored and near vast vegetation". on normal curcumstances u'd never find us doing such blaten acts of animal cruelty. we're nice people after all~

i had a super amusing day today...

chinese new year's one of the most biggest celebrations in Asia i would say... although the sites aren't as dramatic as to those of xmas or new year's, the sounds are pretty noticeable. Almost everywhere i go they'd be playin those old school festive songs... even in the public bathrooms, like theres ever a need to hear something like That in there~

but i like chinese new year, the free money, the tons of food... its even an excuse for kids to gamble. i have fun just hangin out with my family & relatives. like i said, its a big deal~

although, i've never really acquired the taste for Steamboat, or Shark's Fin, or Abalone or any other exotic (& rather expensive) Asian delicacies for that matter, that's never stopped me from whippin up some chicken poppers or orderin Pizza on the side~ but its the time of the year where i'd put those habits aside n just join in with them and eat the unfamiliar cusines.

its a pleasant cultural change for me and sometimes rather educational.. i sometimes learn new words or random trivia bout the chinese culture that may not appeal to me that much but its still interesting to know since i am, afterall, beige to the skin~

this may all seem rather normal to any other person but for someone like me, whose youth till now's proficiency in the Mandarin language has failed to even obtain so much as a passing grade since my primary-hood. since then most of the friends i made had usually been of different ethnicity from me~

i never watched any of the hk dramas or the taiwanese game shows on tv.. therefore i never had any common topic to converse with the other beige kids at my school. almost half of my closest friends back then where non-chinese. Even today my best friend is Malay~

it was onli during tertiary that i started hangin out with the chinese kids, n that took some gettin used too. now that im in National Service, the singaporean chinese in me has never made such a notable appearance before. i still speak good english, cept now i have a better understanding for Singlish as well~

i order my own tea by telling the uncle, "teh-peng" instead of "iced-tea". for example~ a pretty retarded thing to even mention but for me, when i go out and when i say such things.. i notice it~

i like being chinese, even though i don't act like one most of the time~

after all the fishball noodles and xiao long baos... i like to just go back to having pizza and spagatti for lunch after all this is done :)

i dont think i've ever been beatin up before, it was quite a fun 1st time~
theres bruises and cuts all over my arms, body and face... everything hurts, even blood was drawn at a strange place....

my new Airforce uniform makes me look oh so spiffy :)
i bought a camouflage net for fun and hung it in front of my door for kicks... all the other Tees aint too bad either~ u got the blue and white T-shirts, the collared polos and the PT kits and shorts, all of which have tat grand logo of the RSAF printed right in the middle~ and i must add, the beret just doubles the "solider" look :)

speakin of uniforms, i've seen the new pixel coloured uniform of the SAF and damn does it make u look like a seaweed.. yeah its more practical, but i cant take my eyes off it when i see it, and neither would the enemy... besides, u look like a fool when u wear it to honest~

but, then again... i suppose we'd have to see it "work" in an actual jungle to really make any judgment... though if there were to have a war today, the colour ought to be grey or something since everythings all "urban warfare" n all tat jazz~

i'd hate to see an actual war start in asia.. i dont wanna experience something like tat in my lifetime... but at the rate things are going, i really dont know... sooner or later the shit in the middle east is gonna travel to us and every narcissistic person in this country will flip and start blaming each other, then it'll be 1964 again with race riots goin on and everything this tiny ass country built would have all gone to shit cause eventhough sg's a safe n prosperous place, the ppl are pricks and attitude always trumps ingenuity, period....

singaporeans know their pricks, we cant really help it... and its not because we want to be this way.. its cause u just dont wanna help the person next to u cause u know he/she's a douchebag as well~

its just like tat old lady in the train who abusively pushes everyone outtve her way just to get tat seat at the corner... & as the charitable & compassionate member of society tat u are... you would've gladly givin up ur seat to this elderly woman, but after her act of inconsideration towards u all all the ppl around you, u'd start thinking tat maybe(just maybe..) she doesn't deserve tat seat anymore... soon, you'd start to think tat all old ppl are like tat.. then u'd think all people in general are like tat... and soon, everyone in the world'll be tat way...

then u'd think, why should i show an ounce of decency when no one else is? im gettin the bad end of the deal here, i gotta start lookin out for myself, my own needs, my own individual~

thats when u become self-centered and conceited and all the other Synonyms tat mean "selfish" & "asshole"... so the next time on the train, and u see an old guy lookin for a seat, u pretend to sleep, or look the other way...

i spent the entire day cleaning my room n now its so beautiful i want to cry~ all the clutter on the floor is gone, the shelves are dust-free, the table's neat and the wires n cables are neatly organized...

clothes in my wardrobe's been folded and the bedsheet's changed... took the entire day but damn everything's so sparkly now :) i think, now with the room all clean n shit, its become more of a personal haven... its opened up portals to allow the good chi magic to flow in...

crystal blue and hazel green, all the colours of the world if squint ur eyes, they can be seen floatin around my room in their mist-like state. glowing orbs of healing energy makin their rounds, thru the cupboards and under the tables~ spreadin their happy magic on all hu enter :)

Zombie Scientists + Batman~

last night i had a weird dream....
i dreamt i was Batman(or some guy in a cape... i remembered havin a cape, n some gadgets) n i was fightin scientist zombies in this... secret base/underground lab place-a-ma-jig cause there were test-tubes n wires n wad not layin about... plus there was no windows~

and these zombies, they werent.. gross or anything, they looked human... like average joe lookin zombie... some where short, some where fat... they looked like any ordinary kinda person cept that they were zombies & they all wore lab coats, plus they were super strong, and weighed a ton of bricks~

so, theres the layout for u...

im Bruce Wayne, im trapped in an evil underground lair, and im fightin off regular-lookin scientist zombies from hell....

so, im runnin thru the lab, its dark n dry(???), im just runnin n runnin, n i see a couple of zombies walkin around but they dont bother me so i keep on runnin.... i wasnt actually runnin away from them, more like tryin to find something~ so im searching for.. wadever it is im suppose to search for, lookin in the rooms n stuff... then i enter this science storeroom place with broken test-tubes n empty crates lying about... and inside where these Elite, regular-lookin, Master's degree in health science zombies, which.. looked exactly like all the other regular zombies but, err... they werent?

anyway, the battle starts, its just me jumpin around kickin everybody and hurlin objects at them but they never even flinch cause their like made of bricks n move at the speed of trees growing... so i just kept smashin stuff onto them n the stuff just keeps breakin or something like tat...

tat's pretty much how the battle went for quite a bit... before i woke up~ Upon commin to my senses a while later, i realized this was one of them weirdass dreams i get once in a while tat, if not shared with someone, is just gonna bother me the rest of the day... so after weeks of not bloggin for so long, i come n unload shit like this here and hopefully get some prospective on this~
so yeah :)
